At 1340 hours on Tuesday July 16thnbspdispatch toned out a general alarm assignment for an activated fire alarm at the Wyckoff Family YMCA.nbspbr br Chief Murphy 230 called in service and requested an additionalnbspengine company be dispatched to assist as per the departments high occupancy protocols.nbspnbsp Franklin Lakes FD was dispatched to assist.br br Engine 231 OIC Capt. VanderplaatnbspTower Ladder 241 OIC Lt. Gaeta Engine 232 OIC BN ZuckermannbspRescue 242 OICnbspBN DeBlock and Squad 234 OICnbspLt. Hendrickson all responded to the scene.nbspbr br Upon arrival Chief Murphy reported that the maintenance staff was advising of a smoke condition within the building and that the building had been evacuated.nbspnbspbr br Interior crews under the direction of Capt. Vanderplaat as the Operations Officer went in for investigation to determine the cause of the smoke condition.nbspnbspbr br Chief Murphy requested an additional alarm assignment be transmitted for the box which brought Franklin Lakes Engine 335 Waldwick Tower 641 and a Hohokus Fast Team to the scene.nbsp Oakland Tower 1041 was dispatched to standby at Co 1 and handle calls within the Township while the incident was taking place. Later 1041 was relocated to the incident.br br After an extensive Investigation determined that one of the air conditioning systems had a refrigerant leak which was causing the smoke haze in the building.nbsp Mahwah Hazmat was requested to scene to check the air quality in the building before any occupants were allowed back in.br br After the air quality in the building was confirmed to be clear all crews were released and the building was turned over to the YMCA Staff.br br br -249br
