High winds gusting upwards of 30 mph and rainfall totaling over one inch kept the Wyckoff Fire Department busy for over 5 hours last evening. The night began when dispatch toned out the department to respond to Sicomac Ave near Daniel Ct for power lines burning in the roadway. Upon the arrival of first due units it was reported that a large tree had fallen bringing down several high tension-lines while also damaging two telephone poles. The high-tension lines began burning in the roadway and continued to for several hours. Upon further investigation it was determined there was also a minor gas leak on the property nearest the fire. Units secured the area and stretched precautionary protection lines while awaiting the arrival of PSEG. While on scene for nearly five hours the department also responded to calls for trees into homes and wires burning in trees. All in all the department logged twenty calls for the night.And it didnt end there…Dispatch toned out the volunteers at 0526 hours this morning for an activated residential fire alarm on Frederick Ct.
