At 900pm Sunday Evening a general alarm was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident on Franklin Avenue near Wishingwell with a car into a pole. Police officers on scene reported that the driver was still in the vehicle and needed to be extricated from the car.Engine 231 OIC Capt. Vanderplaat Res2cue 242 OIC FF. Kofler Engine 232 OIC DC Graglia Engine 233 OIC DC Baker and Engine 235 OIC Lt. Hendrickson all resonded to the scene. Upon arrival of the first due apparatus it was determined that one vehicle had left the roadway and was now lodged on top of a guard rail after sheering a telephone pole at the base. The telephone pole which had several high tension lines affixed to it was in danger of falling if the vehicle was moved. BC. Rose 249 assumed Command and Capt. Vanderplaat oversaw Rescue Operations. The crew from Engine 231 immediately stretched a handline for protection of the scene and assisted the crew from Res2cue 242 with extrication efforts. The battery to the vehicle was secured and the drivers door was popped so that he patient could be removed from the vehicle and turned over to Wyckoff Ambulance Corps. Crews remained on scene until Orange and Rockland arrived on scene to evaluate the damaged utility pole and secure it.All crews were returned to service at approximately 1045 hours.-249
