NOR SNOW, RAIN OR ICE……………….

While most residents were busy digging out from 5 inches of snow Wyckoffs Bravest responded to five calls for service today At 0959 hours Wyckoff Communications dispatched units to Dairy Queen on an activated fire alarm. Deputy Chief T.Brock 239 arrived on scene and established command. Engine 231 OIC FF Kofler Tower Ladder 241 OIC Chief Murphy Enigne 232 OIC FF Smith and Engine 233 OIC BN Pruim all responded. After a primary search of the building it was determined the alarm was activated due to a low battery and all units returned Shortly before 1430 hours dispatch sent the bravest to the Long View Building an assisted living center in the Christian Health Care Center complex for an activated fire alarm. Enigne 233 OICCommand BN Pruim Engine 231 OIC Lt. Gaeta and Engine 232 OIC DC Graglia responded. Crews were met on scene by maintenance reporting the alarm was activated inadvertently by a cooking demonstration. After confirming maintenances report the alarm was reset and all units returned. At 1621 hours Wyckoff Police requested the fire department respond to a residence on Van Schaik Lane for a vehicle leaking fuel. The driver reported striking a metal object on the highway puncturing the fuel tank. Deputy Chief T. Brock 239 marked on scene establishing command and reported approximately fifteen gallons of fuel had leaked from the vehicle. Crews were able to contain the leak preventing fuel runoff from entering catch basins. Units remained on scene until the vehicle was removed by the police departments duty tow. NORCON communications located at the Wyckoff Fire Desk was activated by the Oakland Fire Department at 2001 hours. The brothers from Oakland were handling a series of motor vehicle accidents involving 15-30 vehicles along Route 287 NorthSouth on the Wanaque border. Lastly at 2034 hours units were dispatched to a residential fire alarm on Alex Court. Deputy Chief T. Brock 239 established command and instructed Engine 231 OIC Lt. Gaeta to investigate. Crews were able to determine the alarm was activated due to steam from the shower. All units returned shortly. -146
