MORE EARLY MORNING WAKE UP CALLS

911 Hot Designs Administrator    March 13, 2008    No Comments

While the volunteers are gearing up for the Annual Departmental Inspection this week someone is determined to keep the department running…Especially afterhoursMonday Evening at approximately 245am dispatch toned out a general alarm assignment for an odor of smoke in one of the buildings on the Christian Health Care Center Campus. Chief Murphy 230 Deputy Chief Baker 237 Engine 233 Engine 232 Tower Ladder 241 and Res2cue 242 all responded. Crews investigated and determined that the odor was isolated to an HVAC System and crews were returned to service a short time later.Bright and early this morning at 141am dispatch toned out the FAST Team to Oakland for a working structure fire on Riverview Avenue in their town. Chief Murphy 230 and Res2cue 242 OIC DC Brockresponded. While enroute Chief Murphy was assigned to handle a second call pending in Oakland on West Oakland Avenue. Res2cue 242 arrived on scene at the structure fire and stood by as the FAST Team while Oakland made a great stop Upon arrival of additional mutual aid companies on the West Oakland Avenue call Chief Murphy transferred command of that incident over to Battalion 3 Commander Chief Bohny. The Chief and the Rescue were released and returned to the township a short time later.Just when you think it is all quiet dispatch toned out a general alarm assignment at 339am for an odor of smoke in a residence on Ravine Avenue. Chief Murphy 230 Deputy Chief Graglia 238 Engine 232 OIC Capt. LoRusso Tower Ladder 241 OIC BN Rose and Engine 233 OICChauffeur DC Baker all responded to the scene. Upon arrival it was determined that an earlier motor vehicle crash further up the road on Ravine Avenue had left wires down in the roadway with a telephone coming down into the roadway. The investigation inside the residence determined that an electrical charge through the cable tv lines had caused some of the wiring to burn up within the home. Crews were able to isolate the wires in question and return to service. Special thanks goes out to Oakland 1050 and Oakland Capt. LeRoy for their quick response and expertise regarding the cable tv systems.-249
