On Friday October5 2007 at approximately 1030hrs dispatch toned out for a mutual aid engine to respond to Midland Park High School for an activated fire alarm with a smoke condition in the gym. Chief Murphy 230 and Engine231OIC D.C. Brockresponded to the scene. Crews assisted with ventilation and were back in service shortly thereafter. Approximately 1230hrs dispatch toned out for an activated fire alarm at the CHCC Building3. Upon arrival at the scene Chief Murphy was advised by security staff that the alarm was activated by a resident smoking in a stairwell. Truck 241 OIC LT Zivkovich and Engine232OIC FF Depken arrived on scene. After a quick investigation the alarm was reset and all units were back in service. At 1745 hrs Dispatch toned out for a reported structure fire on Crescent Avenue. A 911 call was received from a neighbor reporting visible flames at a home under construction. Chief Murphy 230 and DC Brock239 arrived on scene and reported a 40 yard dumpster fully involved in the front yard which posed no threat to the home. Engine 231OIC Capt. Fisher arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Crews from Engine 232 and 233 assisted with the overhaul. Upon returning the department was requested to respond to the area of Monroe Avenue for a visible smoke condition. Upon the arrival of BN Rose249 Command was established and he reported a confirmed smoke condition in the area. Crews began to walk the area and Truck 241 reported that they located a wooden log burning against the rear of a garage. The log was extinguished and all units were returned.
