At 1730 hours on Sunday Evening dispatch toned out the FAST Team to respond to Waldwick for a smoke condition in a strip mall located at 38 Franklin Turnpike. Wyckoff Chief Murphy 230 and Res2cue 242 OIC Bn. Rose responded for the FAST Assignment. Upon arrival of Waldwicks crews it was determined that they had a smoke condition and burning smell in the Chinese Restaurant located in the strip mall. The strip mall is a one story masonry structure 300 x 75 with a common cockloft and multiple stores. The smoke was in the store located at the AD Sector of the structure.Waldwick Command Assistant Chief Flatten 650 positioned on Sector A and immediately requested additional resources to the scene and for coverage due to type of construction of this structure. As Waldwick crews were inside conducting the primary search command requested that all utilities be secured to the building. It was later determined that the smoke and odor were caused by a ventilation motor that may have been affected by a momentary power surge in the area.Wyckoff Tower 241OIC FF. Wendelaar was dispatched for the coverage assignment but were later returned as the incident was scaled down.All Wyckoff units were returned to service at approximately 1915 hours.-249
