pnbspnbspnbsp On Monday April 27 2009 at approximately 1527 hrs dispatch toned out for a reported structure fire on Clinton Ave. Chief Murphy 230 and all of the WFD remaining apparatus responded to the scene. While en route to the scene dispatch advised that the police are reporting four unaccounted children that may be inside. Chief Murphy 230 requested his Fast Team assignment and a full second alarm assignment directly to the scene on a rush. Chief Murphy arrived on scene and reported a 2 12 storynbspresidential home with heavy fire showing on the quotBquot side of the structure as well as through the roof and 1st floor. Wyckoff Engine 231OIC DC Rose was advised to expedite their response. Eng. 231 was advised to come directly into the scene and stretch a protection hand line and complete a primary search. The crew made an aggressive search through out all floors. Due to the extensive fire conditions rapidly deteriorated and Chief Murphy evacuated the search crew. Operations then went into a defensive mode for a short time before crews reentered the structure and made a phenomenal push. The bulk of the fire was knocked down a short time later and extensive overhaul was conducted. The children were found to be safe with their mother. All of this could not have been completed successfully if not for a well coordinated effort amongst the mutual aid that responded.
