Well the New Year has started off with the same fast pace that 2007 ended with Thus far this year the members have logged 78 runs in 43 days. In addition to the continuous training hours that our members log each month the continued dedication of our members to respond to our neighbors call for help is outstanding Thank you to all of the members who continue to respond and serve our neighbors in their time of need and brave the sleepless cold winter nights. Last evening proved to be just another one of those busy nights for our members. At 2256 hours dispatch toned out a general alarm for an activated fire alarm at the Wyckoff Family YMCA. Chief Murphy 230 Engine 231 OIC Lt. Zivkovich Tower Ladder 241 OIC BN Rose Engine 233 OIC DC Baker and Engine 232 OIC DC Graglia responded to the scene. Upon arrival of Chief Murphy it was reported that the cleaning crew working on scene had struck a pull station activating the alarm. Interior crews investigated and determined that the alarm was indeed activated by the cleaning crew and the building was turned over to the maintenance supervisor. At 0432 hours dispatched toned out a general alarm for an activated fire alarm at Kearny Federal Savings Bank 661 Wyckoff Avenue. Chief Murphy 230 Engine 231 OIC Lt. Zivkovich Tower Ladder 241 OIC BNChauffeur Rose Engine 232 OIC BN Zuckerman and Engine 235 OIC Lt. Hendrickson responded to the scene. Interior crews determined that an apparent malfunction caused an activation of the smoke detector on the second floor. Just as crews were about to head home dispatch toned out a general alarm assignment for a working truck fire at 500 West Main Street at 0502 hours. Engine 231 OICCommand BN Rose Engine 232 OIC DC Graglia and Engine 233 DC Baker responded. Command reported that upon arrival there was no visible fire. An apparent electrical fire in the wiring harness of the vehicle was extinguished prior to crews arrival. The crew from 231 disconnected the battery on the vehicle to prevent any further electrical issues and all units returned to service a short time later. At 0614 hours dispatch toned out a general alarm assignment for an activated water flow alarm at 500 West Main Street. Engine 231 OIC BNCommand Rose Engine 232 OIC BN Zuckerman and Engine 233 DCChauffeur Baker responded. The crews from Engine 231 and 232 investigated and determined that the alarm was activated due to multiple water leaks in the roof leaking onto alarm components which caused the alarm system to malfunction. Crews were returned to service a short time later. We will see what the Day Tour has in store for today -249
