pWell last evening into early this morning proved to be a very busy morning for the dedicated members of the Wyckoff Fire Department.ppAt 1156pm last evening Wyckoff Police dispatched the FD for a reported fire in the cul-de-sac of Merrywood Drive.nbsp Just after dispatch additional callers reported that the fire was actually a garage fire in a residence on Merrywood. Chief Murphy signed into service and received the updated report from the police department and immediately requested a 2nd alarm assignment be dispatched.ppUpon arrival Chief Murphy reported an active fire in an attached two car garage with two vehicles inside. Engine 233 OIC BC DeBlocknbspTower Ladder 241 OIC BC VanderplaatnbspRescue 242 OIC DC Rose Engine 232 OiC DC LoRuss and thenbspremainder of thenbspWyckoff assingment signed into service.ppThe 2nd alarm assignment units callednbspinto the scene includednbspFAST Teams from Ramsey and Hohokus WaldwicknbspTL 641 Franklin Lakes Engine 331 HawthornenbspEngine 1 and Oakland Rescuenbsp1034.ppThe initial crews on scene were quickly able to get water on the fire and contain the fire to the garage area withnbspno extension tonbspthe residence.ppGreat job done by all on scene and thanks tonbspournbspmutual aidnbsptowns for the assistance.ppJust as members fell back asleep for some much needed restnbsp atnbsp 445am Wyckoff Police dispatched a mutual aid request for Rescuenbsp242 and Engine 233 to respond to Hawthorne for a working structure fire in their town on Royal Avenue.ppChief Murphy 230 and Rescue 242 OIC DC Rose were directed into the scene and Engine 233 OIC BC Deblock were directed for coverage at Hawthorne FD Headquaters.ppUpon the arrival of Chief Murphy and 242 the crew was immediately assigned to assist Hawthorne crews in gaining access to a detached two car commercial garage where the fire originated.nbsp Hawthorne crews were getting water on the fire and protecting nearby exposures while the Wyckoff Crew assisted by opening up the remainder of the structure and working with hose teams to find the seat of the fire.ppGreat job Chief Speranza and his crews for a quick knockdown of this deepseated fire and the protection of the adjoining structures.ppPictures courtesy of Waldwick Fire Department and Ken Vanderwall.pp-239ppnbspp
