A BUSY WEEKEND FOR THE WFD

911 Hot Designs Administrator    November 24, 2008    No Comments

pSaturday proved to be a very busy day for the WFD Members who logged six calls for the day with two mutual aid responses.ppOn Saturday Evening at around 10pmnbspthe members of the WFD were called out to a fire alarm on Griner Court.nbsp After the investigation was complete all units returned to service.nbsp Just as Company 1 units had backed into the firehouse and put their equipment back into service the Rescue 242 was dispatched mutual aid to Waldwick for a motor vehicle accident with a rollover and entrapment.nbsp Due to the fact that all members were still at the firehouse Chief Murphy 230 and Res2cue 242 OIC DC Brocknbspwere in service very quickly.ppUpon arrival of Chief Murphy he reported that there was one vehicle involved with the vehicle resting on its passenger side with a partial ejection.nbspWaldwick Chief Joe Alvarez 630 arrived and took commandnbspof the incident.ppCrews from Waldwick Rescue 1 and crew members from Rescue 242 worked side by side to extricate the victim from the vehicle.nbsp Through a well coordinated effort of both crews the scene was stabilized quickly and the victim was transported by Waldwick Ambulance Corp.ppGood job to both departments on a nice team effort.ppAs crews returned from Waldwick and placed the equipment back into service dispatch toned out a mutual aid request for the FAST Team to respond to Oakland for a working structure fire 109 A.M.ppChief Murphy 230 and Rescue 242 OIC DC Brock both responded to the scene.nbspnbspnbsp Upon arrival the FAST Crew from Wyckoff setup on the front lawn of the structure and stood by while the Oakland crews conducted their investigation.nbspnbsp Due to the fact that the cause of the incident was a chimney backup and not a structure fire the scene was downsized by Oakland Command Chief Sondervan 1030 and the Wyckoff Crew returned to town a short time later.ppJust when everyone thought it was safe to put their heads down on the pillow for some much needed rest dispatch toned out a general alarm assignment 258 A.M. for an activated fire alarm at a commercial structure on Goffle Road.nbspnbsp Chief Murphy 230 DC Graglia 238 Engine 232 OIC BC Zuckerman Tower Ladder 241 OIC BC Rose Engine 233 OIC DC Baker and Rescue 242 OIC FF J. Ciampo all responded to the scene.nbspnbsp The investigation by interior crews determined an apparent alarm malfunction.nbspnbsp All units returned to service by 345 A.M.ppThank you to the dedicated members of the WFD who came out to handle all of these calls during the busy weekendpp-249p
