The month of January has found our volunteers staying very busy to start off the New YearOn Saturday at approximately 1434 hours dispatch toned out a general alarm assignment for an oven fire on Kaitlyn Lane. Chief Murphy 230 Engine 231 OIC DC Brock and the remainder of the Wyckoff units responded. Upon arrival units determined that there was a small grease fire that was contained to the oven during the self cleaning process. The fire extinguished itself as units were arriving and no further action was needed. Units returned to service at approximately 1502 hours.At 1915 hours dispatch toned out a general alarm assignment for an activated waterflow alarm at the Christrian Health Care Center Bldg 4. Engine 232 OIC DC Graglia – Command Tower 241 OIC BN Rose Engine 233 FF Chauffeur Petersand Res2cue 242 OIC Capt. Vanderplaat arrived on scene to investigate. Upon investigation crews determined that the air compressor for the sprinkler system had failed causing the system to charge with water. The building was turned over to maintenace personnel and crews were released a short time later.Just as the sun was rising over Wyckoff Sunday Morning dispatch toned out a general alarm assignment at 658 hours for an activated fire alarm at the Christrian Health Care Center Bldg 7. Chief Murphy 230 Engine 233 OIC DC Baker Tower Ladder 241 OIC DC Brock Engine 232 OIC DC Graglia and Res2cue 242 OIC Capt. Vanderplaat responded. Upon investigation crews determined that there was a sprinkler system malfunction causing the system to charge which resulted in several leakes throughut the building. The building was turned over to maintenance personnel and crews were released a short time later.At 1237 hours dispatch toned out a mutual aid assigment for the FAST Team to respond in the Borough of Waldwick for a gas leak in a residence on Lincoln Place. Chief Murphy 230 and Rescue 242 DC Brock responded. Upon arrival the FAST Team setup in the staging area awaiting further assignment. Waldwick Command Chief Alvarez 630 reported that the gas meter inside the home had become disconnected while the homeowner was working on it and subsequently caused the home be charged with natural gas. Chief Alvarez immediatley requested his additional alarm assignments due to the nature of the incident and activated NORCON. Crews arriving on scene stood by and awaited the arrival of PSEG in order to shut down the gas and electric utilies to the home. Once the gas was shut down and situation was deemed safe Command downsized the assignment and crews were released. Chief Murphy and Res2cue 242 returned to the Township a short time later.What will Sunday Evening bring……….-249
