pAt approximately 1221 hours today dispatch toned out a general alarm assignment for a confirmed fire in a daycare center located in the township.ppEngine 231 OIC Capt. Vanderplaat Engine 232 OIC FF. Warnet and Engine 233 OIC FF Peters initially responded.nbspnbspppWhile enroute dispatch advised all companies that the building had been evacuated and that there was a confirmed fire in the daycare center.nbspnbsp Capt. Vanderplaat immediately requested a 2nd alarm assignment into the township for coverage and requested a FAST Team to the scene.nbspnbsp Dispatch additionally advised that Hawthorne Engine 1 was responding as a mutual aid engine as per department protocols for occupied schools or day care centers.ppUpon arrival at the scene Capt. Vanderplaat established command and reported that a smoke condition was present in the structure with a reported fire in the ceiling of a bathroom.ppUpon 2nd dispatch of the Wyckoff Fire Department Tower Ladder 241 Res2cue 242 Squad 234 and Engine 235 responded in to the box assignment.ppInterior crews quickly determined that the fire was started when an electrical exhaust fan had shorted out in the ceiling of the bathroom causing the smoke and fire condition.nbspnbsp All damage was isolated to the area surrounding the fan and the unit was removed from the building.ppThe scene was downsized and all mutual aid companies on scene and on standby within the township were returned to service a short time later.ppThank you to the mutual aid companies who responded to assist.pp-249p
