pnbspnbsp On Saturday June 20 2009 nbspat approximately 1610 hours The department was dispatched to a reportednbspbasement fire on Long Drive. Chief Murphy230 called in service.nbspWhile en route he was advised by the Police that they had a confirmed working fire. Chief Murphy requested his Fast Team assignment and a second alarm basednbspon that information as well as information received fromnbspDeputy Chief Baker237 on scene. Engine 233OIC Forsyth Engine232OIC TanucilliEngine231OIC AlnorTruck241OIC T. Brock and Rescue242OIC Vanderplaat responded in. Chief Murphy arrived on scene established command and reported that he had a large 2nbsp12 story residential home with fire showing on the A-Alpha side and the B-Bravo side of the home.nbsp He also reported to incomingnbspcrews that it was a basement fire and both the electrical panel insidenbspand thenbspoutside meter were fully involved which was going to make fire attack difficult.nbsp Initial crews completednbspa primary throughout all floors proving negative for victims. The Engine crew made an aggressive pushnbspinto the basement andnbspreportednbspthat they hadnbspfire rolling across just above the drop ceiling with popping and arching coming from the electrical panel. nbspThe Engine crew was able to keep the fire in check and protect the basement stairwell without being in danger of any electrical hazards. The main body ofnbspfire could not be fought nbspuntil the powernbsp to the home was secured by the utility company.nbspnbspDue to this the floor above the main body of fire was compromised and a partial collapse occurred causing the fire to spread upward above the panel into the first floor. Additional crews held the fire to that room only on the first floor. Once the fire was completely knocked down extensive overhaul occurred and the utility company continued to secure their underground wiring.nbsp A great job was done by all companies of Wyckoff and the Mutual Aid. The operation was well coordinated and completed in a safe manner.
