This past Wednesday was a busy day for the members of the Wyckoff Fire Department. The day started off with an alarm received around 2:00 p.m. for a mutual aid request for the tower ladder into Oakland for an activated alarm at an elementary school.
Shortly thereafter, a power outage in town resulted in numerous other alarms, including arcing wires inside the Wyckoff YMCA, which resulted in an evacuation of the structure. All in all, WFD ran 12 calls, and at one point had seven calls backlogged, requiring mutual aid from Waldwick and Franklin Lakes to handle the excess volume.
