A Taste of Wyckoff

On Friday January 31,  the WFD held their Taste of Wyckoff Fundraiser. A big thank you to all who attended and made last night a very successful fundraiser.  The WFD would also like to thank the Wyckoff YMCA for allowing us to have this event, as well as all the sponsors and donors who helped make the evening possible. Congratulations to the three winners of our Mega 50/50 drawing, and also to all those who won prizes from our tricky tray table. Chief Tim Brock, Asst. Chief Joe VanderPlaat and the 3 Battalion Chiefs presented Melissa Rubenstein with her Fire Commissioner helmet last night as well.

50/50 Ticket Sales

On Saturday morning, members of the WFD were at Stop & Shop as well as ShopRite of Wyckoff selling Mega 50/50 Tickets for a chance to win $10,000. If anyone is interested in buying a ticket please stop by one of the firehouses on a Monday night at 7:30.  Please come out and support our 4th Annual A Taste of Wyckoff on January 31 at 6:30 pm at the Wyckoff YMCA. The night will include food from local restaurants, cash bar, tricky tray as well as a DJ and the O.D.B. Band.

234 Responds to 3rd Alarm in Glen Rock

On Friday at 11:00 am Engine 234 responded to a working structure fire in Glen Rock. Engine 234 arrived on scene and assisted with overhaul on the C side of the building at the peak of the roof. Engine 234 returned back to town a short time later. Great job by all who was working on scene.

241 Responds to Mahwah for 5th Alarm

On Wednesday morning at 5:10 am Chief 230, Asst. Chief 240, Safety 250, and Tower Ladder 241 all responded to Mahwah for working structure fire at a construction supply company. The crew from 241 split, one crew went to roof for master stream operations and ventilation, while the second crew went to the second floor on the side of the building to extinguish fire in the ceiling. Crews then kept rotating in the tower ladder to continue master stream operations. 241 crew was relieved at 11:30 am until being released at 1:30 pm. Great job by all on scene.

3rd Alarm at ECCR

On Wednesday morning at about 4:50 am, the WFD was dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat in the Oak Lodge.  Chief 230, Asst. Chief 240 and Safety Officer 250 responded. 250 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing. 230 established command. 230 called for a second alarm to be transmitted to the scene and to have cover companies at the firehouses. Engine 236 arrived first on scene and stretched hand-lines and conducted a primary search. All Wyckoff units arrived on scene as well as mutual aid crews and began overhaul and ventilation operations.  All fire was knocked down. Residents and staff were relocated to another building. Great job by all on scene.

4th Alarm Fire at MBS

On Wednesday morning at appox 1:30 am, a 4th Alarm fire occurred at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Franklin Lakes. Chief 230, Asst Chief 240, Tower Ladder 241 and Engine 232 all responded to the scene and were immediately put to work by Franklin Lakes command 330. TL 241 set up to assist in master stream operations and Eng 232 assisted in water supply. Numerous mutual aid towns were on scene and others stood by at Franklin Lakes HQ. Nice work by all who responded.

241 Responds to Waldwick for 2nd Alarm

On Wednesday Dec. 4 at approx. 5:30 pm. Truck 241, Chief 230, and Asst. Chief 240 all responded to Waldwick for a residential structure fire on Lincoln Place. The crew of 241 was instructed to overhaul and check for extension. 241 also assisted Waldwick with tarping the roof. The crew was returned to the township shortly after.

Boats to GWB

On Tuesday Dec. 3 at appox 1:30 pm, Wyckoff FD was requested to send their boats and Sonar Truck 841 to the George Washington Bridge to assist Port Authority PD. Area checked clear and all members were returned.

WFD handles minor garbage truck fire

On Wednesday morning September 5th around 1020 hrs., the Wyckoff Fire Department was dispatched to the rear of Company 2 for a reported garbage truck fire.  Upon arrival Engine 233 (OIC Lt. Levine) established command and reported that nothing was showing from the garbage truck.  Engines 234, 235 and 236 signed in as well.  The garbage truck personnel reported seeing smoke coming from the top of the loader.   The personnel were able to dump the load in the parking lot where crews from 233 and 235 assisted in spraying down the contents.  The garbage truck company arrived on scene and handled the clean up.  All units returned with in an hour.
