Last evening, a severe storm rolled through town taking down many trees and wires causing multiple road closures. The WFD handled over 20 calls for service within a short period of time. We are always here 24/7, 100% fully staffed by volunteers for whatever emergency may arise.
Last evening, members from Truck 241 and Engine 236 stoodby in Allendale for their annual 4th of July fireworks show.
Over the last 2 days the WFD attended community events. On Thursday Engine 234 and 241 went to Washington School and Eisenhower Middle School to flow water for the kids. Engine 231, Tower 241 Engine 236 attended both graduation ceremonies at Ramapo and Indian Hills High Schools to honor the WF members that graduated. On Friday Engine 234 and Tower 241 returned back to Eisenhower.
At Monday’s Departmental Meeting, years of service were awarded to several members. Congrats to all!

Yesterday, Truck 241 and Rescue 242 were dispatched to Oakland for a well involved structure fire. Crews assisted with fire attack and opening up. With the extreme heat, a great job was done by Oakland and all mutual aid companies.
On Wednesday at about 3 PM, the WFD was dispatched to a home on Lafayette Avenue for a reported attic fire in a large residential home. Initial arriving crews reported heavy smoke emanating from the home. A second alarm was dispatched to the scene. An aggressive interior attack was conducted while exterior truck crews opened up. The fire was brought under control within an hour. Thank you to all of our mutual aid for their assistance at the scene and providing coverage to the town.
On Friday at 8:53 AM, Tower Ladder 241 responded to Franklin Lakes to assist with a minor smoke condition at FAMS.
Later that day the Tower Ladder was dispatched to Mahwah to standby at Mahwah Fire Co #2, while they operated at a fire.
Yesterday the WFD responded to 5 calls:
At 11:15 am Tower Ladder 241 responded mutual aid to Oakland to assist their FD with an alarm activation at the Oakland Care Center. The crew stoodby until released from Oakland command.
At 12:40 pm, the WFD was dispatched for a vehicle on its side in the Cedar Hill Shopping Center parking lot. 240 arrived on scene and established command. 236 arrived on scene, stretched a dry line and secured vehicles battery with assistance from 242. Units waited on scene until vehicle was secured by tow company.
At 4:30 pm the WFD responded to a residence and assisted the resident with a tree that fell on their home and compromised a load bearing wall. Crews from Rescue 242, Tower Ladder 241 and Engine 236 stablized the beam.
At 7:10 pm the WFD responsed to fire alram activation, the cause of the alarm was burnt food.
At 9:00 pm the WFD was once again called upon this time for a Carbon Monoxide alarm sounding in the home. Crews from Engine 236, Tower Ladder 241, Rescue 242, & Engine 235 assisted in ventilation operations of the home. PSE&G responded and found the cause to be from acetylene tourch being used in the basement.
On Wednesday morning at about 4:15 AM, Chief 230, Asst Chief 240, Mac 1 and Rescue 242 responded to a working strurcture fire in Haledon. Upon arrival the crew was split into 2 teams, one assisted Haledon with extinguishment and opening up, the second crew remained as the FAST Team on scene. The fire was brought under control within the hour and crews were released from the scene shortly there after.
On Saturday morning, WFD Chief 230, Asst Chief 240, Truck 241, Rescue 242 and Engine 236 were assigned to a flag detail in North Haledon to honor a brother whose life was taken too soon.
This morning at 8:06 Asst. Chief 240 and Tower Ladder 241 responded with the Bergen County Task Force. They were covering the area of Hillcrest and Spring Valley NY. The Task Force also responded to 2 Fire Alarms as well. All units were clear at 3:50 PM.
This afternoon at approx. 2 PM WFD responded to CedarHill Avenue with a high tension power line down and burning. The scene was turned over to the utility company and all units were returned at 3:30 PM.
On Saturday night, at approx 9:40 PM Chief 230, Asst Chief 240, and Tower Ladder 241 were dispatched into Waldwick for a 2nd alarm fire. Upon arrival, command ordered 241 crew to vent the roof and do a search of the house. All crews were released at 11:30 PM.
