On Saturday, January 16, 2010, at approximately 9:00am, Oakland Command requested a 2nd alarm assignment dispatched for a working gas fed structure fire in a residential home. Upon arrival of Command, a moderate explosion had occurred. Chief Murphy#230, and Rescue #242(OIC DC Rose) responded on the FAST assignment, Truck#241(OIC LT Durkin) responded on the cover assignment. Because of the extensive gas leak, Command upgraded the Trucks response to the scene. PSE&G arrived on location and was trying to secure the gas street shut off. All crews worked in a unified manner and rapidly knocked the fire down once the gas and electric were secured. A great job was done by Oakland Command and all members that were on scene.
